When our son reached the age of 2, and still had no words, we decided to take action ourselves by contacting a private therapist. We chose Beth and are very glad that we did. Our little boy generally doesn’t like new people, and it surprised us how quickly he came around to Beth, due to her kind and gentle manner. It’s obvious that Beth too is a mother, in the way she interacts with our son, which is exactly the type of person you want to be helping your child.
I wasn’t sure how much I’d learn from the sessions as I knew I already talked, read and played with my son as much as possible. However, I feel we gained an awful lot from Beth’s help. She showed us what we were doing well and helped us with what we could do to bring on our son’s gestures, turn taking and speech.
Through Beth we felt we had constant support. Any questions we had at any time, she was there to answer them. Having now had an NHS appointment for our son, you can definitely see a big difference between the two. The sessions are longer with Beth and she gives you an awful lot more feedback and advice, both written and verbal. She also liaises with our son’s doctor, health visitor and other professionals in order to keep everyone in the loop, and is so kind and efficient.
